S.T.E.P. consists of three very distinct levels of parenting assistance. The levels are birth to 6 years of age, 6 – 12 years of age, and teens. Each age level has unique needs and some of these are discussed during the groups.
The S.T.E.P. parenting was first developed in 1976 and has been researched. In 2010, the STEP program was added to SAMHSA’s (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration) National Registry of Evidence-based Programs and Practices (NREPP). Though they did not “approve” programs, they did rate the quality of research, and STEP received a favorable review in all areas.
I am a S.T.E.P. leader for all three levels and am currently forming a group for the parents of 6 – 12
